5 TED TALKS FOR PRODUCTIVITY & MOTIVATION
I'm so excited to bring this list to you today. There's not much that I find more inspiring than a good TED Talk, and I think a lot of people would agree. Over the last several years I've committed to using my free time with intention. That means that if i'm sitting around, done all of my tasks and I have some time to spare, I seek out books, videos, movies, etc. that I feel add to my self-growth. It's a way to regulate what I do when i'm bored and make sure i'm not wasting too much time on junk. Of course, I'm not perfect and sometimes watching reality TV is just what the doctor perscribes, but I always feel so much better when I choose something motivational.
These talks all focus on being more productive and intentional, encouraging you to be just a bit better.
Enjoy!
1. TIM URBAN: INSIDE THE MIND OF A MASTER PROCRASTINATOR
I'm starting the list off with this video by Tim Urban because it's really the video that pushed me to hit publish on EO Edits and stop worrying. His talk is both hilarious and smart. I found myself nodding along throughout the whole thing. Immediately after watching this I set deadlines for myself and committed to my goals.
2. MEG JAY: WHY 30 IS NOT THE NEW 20
What's more motivating than Psychologist, Meg Jay, telling you to get off your butt and set yourself up for success? She describes the 20's as a "defining decade" and encourages you to claim these integral years and lay the foundation for your life both personally and professionally.
3. EDWARD BRICENO: HOW TO GET BETTER AT THE THINGS YOU CARE ABOUT
Feeling stuck? Are you working hard yet not really going anywhere in your career or hobbies? Edward Briceno discusses the importance of continuously learning in order to improve, a concept I'm a big advocate for. I think I could become a professional student. So, pick up that book, sign up for that class, teach yourself something, get a mentor, anything! Just keep moving forward.
4. BEL PESCE: 5 WAYS TO KILL YOUR DREAMS
Bel Pesce breaks down 5 myths about success. A bit of a rude awakening, Pesce encourages you to take ownership and never settle when it comes to your dreams. The talk is funny with a lot tough love. Your dreams won't work unless you do.
5. ARI WALLACH: 3 WAYS TO PLAN FOR THE (VERY) LONG TERM
Oh my goodness, this talk gave me that AHA moment. I love the planner community because I truly believe it's a community that encourages its members to achieve their goals. However, the nature of the planner is, at most, looking at the current year's plan. Each day, week, and month is emphasized. But what about beyond the year? This talk made me excited to think about the long term, something that used to make me freeze up when I thought about. I didn't know what I wanted in the next 5, 10, 20 years. Our society is so strongly built on speed, instant gratification and those 15 minutes of fame, but there's so much more than that. You have your whole life to live! Don't be afraid to ask yourself, "what is your long path?"
The great thing is that there's so many more inspring videos where these came from. Head over to
